Balanced condition for 1st case: R1R2=l100l=5010050=1
so R1=R2
In 2nd case : when 24 Ω is connected in parallel to R2 , the resistance of R2 arm becomes RP=24R224+R2
now balance condition is R1RP=7010070
or R1RP=7/3
or R2=(7/3)RP as R1=R2
or R2=(7/3)24R224+R2
or 24R2+R22=56R2
or R22=32R2
or R2=32Ω
