The root mean square speed of molecules of a given mass of a gas at 270C and 1 atmosphere pressure is 200 ms-1. The root mean square speed of molecules of the gas at 1270C and 2 atmosphere pressure is x/√3 ms-1. The value of x will be __________.

Step 1: Given data

Temperature T1=27°C

Temperature T2=127°C

Pressure P1=1atm

Pressure P2=2atm

Vrms=200ms-1

Step 2: Calculating the value of x

We know that,

Vrms=3RT1M200=3×R×300M..................(i)

Also, it is given that

x3=3×R×400M..................(ii)

Dividing (i)/(ii) we get,

200x3=300400200x3=34200=123×x3x=400

Therefore, The value of x will be 400.
