Let the unknown number be $x .$
Now, when we add 5 to that number, the expression becomes $x + 5.$
Given, when 5 is added to that number, we get 15.
Hence, $x + 5 = 15.$
Subtracting 5 from both sides of the equation, we get
$x + 5 - 5 = 15 - 5.$
$∴ x = 10$
Hence, the unknown number is 10.
