Solution

The correct option is A If both assertion and reason are false.
Assertion-Reason relation

Failure of secretion of vasopressin/ ADH causes diuresis (loss of water through urine). Diabetes mellitus is a condition of imbalance of the blood sugar level. It is not a consequence of vasopressin deficiency.

The condition of diabetes insipidus arises when there is a deficiency of vasopressin.

Hence, the assertion statement is incorrect.

In order to balance the fluid concentration in the body, the antidiuretic hormone (ADH) hormone is secreted from the posterior pituitary. ADH is otherwise known as vasopressin.

The main function of Antidiuretic hormone (ADH) is to induce more and more reabsorption of water by kidneys preventing diuresis (excess loss of water through urine). Hence, the volume of urine is decreased due to increased secretion of vasopressin.

So, the reason statement is incorrect.
