△ ABC is isosceles with AB=AC=7.5cm and BC=9 cm. The height AD from A to BC, is 6 cm. Find the area of △ ABC. What will be the height from C to AB i.e.,CE?
Given:
△ ABC is an isosceles triangle with AB=AC=7.5cm.
BC=9 cm
AD⊥BC and CE⊥AB
Height from A to CD=AD=6 cm
Height from C to AB=CE=?
Since, Area of the triangle =12×Base×Corresponding height
Rightarrow Area of the triangle ABC=12×BC×AD (or) 12×AB×CE
⇒12×BC×AD=12×AB×CE
⇒ BC×AD=AB×CE
⇒(9 cm)×(6 cm)=(7.5 cm)×CE
⇒54 cm2=(7.5 cm)×CE
⇒54 cm27.5 cm=CE
⇒7.2 cm=CE
i.e., Height from C to AB is 7.2 cm
