Solve the equation

Let, the number be x

From the given condition,

2(x-1)=x+42x-2=x+4

Adding 2 to both sides of the equation, we get

2x-2+2=x+4+22x=x+6

Subtracting x from both the sides, we get

2x-x=x+6-xx=6

Hence, the required number is 6
