Two 550 kVA alternators operate in parallel to supply the following load.
(i) 250 kW at 0.6 pf lagging. (ii) 100 kW at 0.5 pf leading.
If one machine is supplying 200 kW at 0.9 pf lagging. The power factor angle in degree of other machine is______leading.

The correct option is A -22.86
P=PL1+PL2

=250+100=350kW

Q=QL1+QL2

=PL1 tan ϕ1+PL2 tan ϕ2
Q=250×0.80.6100×3212=160.128 kVAR(lagging)

PG1=200 kW

QG1=10.920.9×200×200=96.86 kVAR

QG2=160.12896.86=63.26 kVAR

PG2=350200=150 kW

Power factor angle =tan1(63.26150)lagging=22.86lagging

or Power factor angle =22.86 leading
