Solution

Step1:- Calculate the share in profit of the both friends

Let, the first friend invest in a business=17x

Second friend invest in a business=23x

Profit made in the first year=55000

We know that, ratio of profit shared is equal to the ratio of amount invested.

Therefore,

Share of the first friend=17x

Share of the second friend=23x

According to the question,

Total Profit=55000

17x+23x=55000

40x=55000

x=5500040x=1375

Share of the first friend=17x

=17×1375=23375

Share of the second friend=23x

=23×1375=31625

Step2:- Calculate the new share of the first friend when profit is increased by 7%

New share of the first friend=23375+7%of23375

In order to calculate the share, first calculate the 7% of 23375

7%of23375 =7100×23375

=1636.25

New share of the first friend=23375+1636.25

=25011.25

Step3:- Calculate the new share of the second friend if the share increase by 7%

New share of the first friend=31625+7%of31625

First, calculate 7%of31625

7%of31625=7100×31625

=2213.75

New share of the first friend=31625+2213.75

=33838.75

Hence, the share of a first friend and a second friend is 25011.25 and 33838.75 respectively.
