Adrenaline and Noradrenaline:

  1. The adrenal medulla secretes catecholamines such as adrenaline and noradrenaline.
  2. These hormones are referred to as ‘fight or flight’ hormones. In emergency and stressful situations, these hormones are rapidly released.
  3. They induce glycogenolysis, which raises blood glucose levels, as well as fat and protein breakdown.
  4. Noradrenaline increases the rate and force of skeletal muscle contractions, as well as the rate and force of cardiac contractions.
