Churning is the process in which the shaking up of cream/milk is done in order to obtain butter.
Churning is done in order to separate on-useful components.

Nowadays, the churning of milk can be done by using a physical phenomenon which is known as centrifugation (It is a process that uses centrifugal force in order to separate particles from a solution).
