Solution

(i) When a pinch of sodium hydrogencarbonate NaHCO3 is added to ethanoic acid (CH3COOH), brisk effervescene is formed due to evolution of CO2 gas.

NaHCO3 + CH3COOH CH3COONa + H2O + CO2

(ii) When ethanol (C2H5OH) is oxidised with acidified potassium dichromate(K2Cr2O7), ethanoic acid is formed.
