Solution

Moss:

  1. Mosses belong to Bryophyta, these are small and nonvascular flowerless plants.
  2. Mosses are autotrophs and synthesize their own food through chlorophyll.

Spores:

  1. The life cycle of mosses starts with spores, which release from a capsule. A single spore germinates to form a filamentous protonema from which a gametophyte develops.
  2. So there are two stages in the moss life cycle, sporophyte which releases spores, gametophyte which releases gametes
  3. Hence, the first stage in the life cycle of moss is spores.
