Solution

Trophic levels:

  1. The trophic levels are the positions of organisms on a food chain.
  2. They represents a step wise transfer of energy through food, in an ecosystem.
  3. The lowest level of a trophic level is occupied by producers.
  4. Producers are consumed by primary consumers i.e herbivores and they occupy the second trophic level.
  5. Primary consumers are then consumed by secondary consumers i.e carnivores and they occupy the third trophic level.
  6. Secondary consumers are consumed by tertiary consumers i.e they feed upon carnivores and they occupy the fourth trophic level.
