Role of enzymes in detergents:

● Lipases digest the lipid molecules that make up the oily stains. They are broken down into their constituents, fatty acids and glycerol.

● The surfactant in the detergent then attaches to the stain, removing it from the clothing.

Microbes producing detergent enzyme:

Lipases are produced by certain bacteria genera which include Bacillus, Pseudomonas, Burkholderia.
