Open in App
Solution

Atrial natriuretic factor (ANF):

  1. An atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) or atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP) is the hormone that is secreted by the human heart.
  2. ANF is also called a ventricular natriuretic peptide which is secreted by the human heart.
  3. The function of ANF is to reduce the plasma volume by increasing the sodium excretion by the kidneys.
  4. ANF regulates salt-water balance and blood pressure by promoting renal sodium and water excretion and stimulating vasodilation.

Atrial natriuretic factor (ANF) is triggered by:

  1. ANF is triggered by stretching of the atrial wall by atrial volume receptors.
  2. Increased concentration of sodium triggers ANF.
