Atrial Natriuretic Peptide:

  1. Atrial Natriuretic Peptide is a hormone secreted from the muscle cells of the right atrium when there is a hypervolemia condition that is when the body has an excess amount of fluid.
  2. ANP is secreted when the body has high blood pressure or hypertension.
  3. ANP will reduce plasma volume by renal excretion of water and sodium.
  4. This hormone helps in vasodilation that is by widening blood vessels to reduce blood pressure.
