Solution

A hypotonic solution means a solution having a lower osmotic pressure as compared to another solution. In other words, it can be said that a solution with lower solute concentration as compared to the other solution. So if a plant cell is kept in a hypotonic solution, then water will flow from the solution into the plant cell through the cell membrane and cell will swell up due to the uptake of water.
