Question

What will happen if a saturated solution is heated?

Open in App
Solution

Saturated solution:

A solution in which the amount of dissolved solute is equal to the saturation point of the solvent, the solution is called a saturated solution.

Saturated solution after heating:

  • On heating a saturated solution the solubility of solute will increase and it becomes unsaturated.
  • Because on heating a saturated solution, the intermolecular space between the particles increases due to an increase in the kinetic energy.
  • This allows more solutes to dissolve in the solution and makes the solution unsaturated.

Therefore, the solubility of solute will increase on the heating of a saturated solution.
