Question

When a solid is heated, what happens to its molecule?

Open in App
Solution

  • When a solid is heated, its molecules gain kinetic energy and start vibrating at their position.
  • When the kinetic energy becomes so high, that it overcomes the force of attraction between the particles, this results in the melting of solid. i.e. the solid gets converted into the liquid state.
