Solution

Correct option: (A)
According to Einstein's Photoelectric Equation,

Energy of photon=Energy needed to remove an electron+K.E of emitted electrons

E=Wo+KEeff
KEmax = EWo

Step 1:Calculating energy of the photon

Analyzing the given data:

:KEmax = 1.5 eV

λ = 310 nm = 3100 Ao
Again,
E(eV)=12400λ(A0)=124003100=4 eV

Step 2: Calculating work function

Hence from Einstein's Photoelectric equation,

Wo=EKEeff

Wo = (41.5) eV=2.5 eV

Hence, the correct option is (A)
