Question

When charge of 3 coulomb is placed in a Uniform electric field, it experiences a force of 3000 newton, within this field, potential difference between two points separated by a distance of 1 cm is (in volt)

Open in App
Solution

Step 1, Given data

Charge = 3 C

Force = 3000 N

Distance = 1 cm = 0.01 m

Step 2, Finding an electric field

We know,

The electric force is given as

F=q×E

Putting all the values

3000=3×E

Or, E = 1000 V/m

Step 3, Finding the potential difference

We also know that potential difference is given as

V=E×d

Putting all the values

V=10000×0.01=10V

Hence the potential difference is 10 V
