The correct option is C If the horse returned safely after the Yajna, it would lead the cavalry under the king.
The Ashwamedha Yajna was performed by only those kings who were capable to fight wars and rule. So it showed the superiority of the king. During the Yajna, wherever the horse set its foot upon that area was considered to be under the kings rule and if anyone stopped or attacked the horse on its way, it meant war with the king. If the horse returned safely after an year, then it was sacrificed in the final ceremony.
