Solution
Nutrition in fungi:
The fungi mainly draw its nutrition from other sources and hence they are heterotrophic as they are unable to produce their own food.
Three modes of heterotrophic nutrition observed in fungi are saprophytic, parasitic and symbiotic nutrition.
Saprophytic nutrition: Some fungi feeds on the dead and decaying organisms and obtain their nutrition by digesting these organism. Such a type of nutrition is called saprophytic nutrition.
Parasitic nutrition: The type of nutrition present in some fungi where they obtain their nutrition directly from a host organism on which they depend is called parasitic nutrition.
Symbiotic nutrition: The type of nutrition in some fungi that maintains a two-way beneficial association with another organism is called a symbiotic nutrition.
