Which of the following is the product of the fusion of the polar nuclei with the male gamete in plants?
Endosperm
The pollen grain contains two nuclei the generative nucleus and the tube nucleus. When the pollen falls on the stigma it germinates to give rise to the pollen tube. The pollen tube leads the two nuclei in the pollen into the ovary. As the generative nucleus travels through the pollen tube it divides into 2 male gametes and the tube cell disintegrates. One of the male gametes enter the ovary and fuses with the egg cell in the ovary to form a zygote. The other male gamete fuses with the polar nuclei in the ovary to form the endosperm.
