Speed of sound is more in solids. Hence when sound travels from solids to liquids or gaseous medium, speed of sound decreases gradually. Sound travels at $343m/s$ in air, it travels at $1,484m/s$ in water (4.3 times as fast as in air) and at $5,120m/s$ in iron (about 15 times as fast as in air). Temperature is the average kinetic energy of all particles of a body. When the temperature has increased the movement of particles increases and sound can be transferred easily.
