Among the compounds obtained from the given reaction, 4 compounds contain 2 chiral carbons.
Possible products are shown below :
Optically active compounds are present in enantiomeric pair so no. of enantiomeric pairs are 5. Since physical property of enantiomers are identical so a pair is separated in one fraction on fractional distillation. Therefore the mixture of products can be separated into 5+2=7 fractions.
