Solution
Centrifugation:
The technique used for the separation of butter from curd is centrifugation.
The principle is that denser particles are forced to the bottom and lighter particles stay at the top when spun rapidly.
It is used for separating particles suspended in a liquid.
It is a mechanical process which involves the use of centrifugal force.
In this process, the jar containing the curd is rotated, and the heavier curd is pulled outward against the wall, whereas, the butter being lighter floats at the top. This is done using a mixture-grinder.
Both the components are then collected separately.
Hence, centrifugation can be used to separate butter from curd.
