Question

Why do blood vessels break so easily?

Open in App
Solution

Blood vessels:

  1. Blood vessels are the channels through which blood is distributed to body tissues.
  2. Tissues that support the body's capillaries begin to weaken, and capillary walls become more fragile, making them more vulnerable to being broken.
  3. One of the most common causes of blood vessel breaking is aging.
  4. Skin becomes thinner as humans age and loses some of the protective fatty layers that help cushion blood vessels from injury.
  5. Blood vessels can burst also due to injury, allergic reactions, side effects of medication, chemotherapy, and even infections of the blood.
  6. The three main types of blood vessels are arteries, veins, and capillaries.
  7. Arteries are the main blood vessels that carry and transport oxygenated blood or oxygen-rich blood from the heart to other parts of the body.
  8. Veins are thin, tube-like elastic blood vessels, present closer to the surface of the skin.
  9. Short and tiny blood vessels, found within the tissues are called capillaries. Capillaries bring about the exchange of substances between blood and tissues.
