Why do we smell hot food from long distance?

1. We smell hot food from distance because of the diffusion process.
   
2. Diffusion is the spreading out and intermixing of particles From one substance into another substance due to the movement of particles.
3. Particles move from high concentration region to low concentration region till uniform distribution is attained.
4. As the rate of diffusion increases with an increase in temperature.
5. As hot food has more temperature, the particles gain Kinetic energy and move with greater speed.

Hence it spreads a greater distance.
