Why is aniline soluble in aqueous HCl?
Aniline is sparingly soluble in water but it is soluble in aqueous HCl. It forms the salt anilinium chloride in aqueous HCl which is water soluble due to its polar nature.
Explain why:
(i) Ethylamine is soluble in water but aniline is not.
(ii) Aniline does not undergo Friedel Crafts reaction.
(iii) Aniline is acetylated before bromination.
