Solution
Ozone depletion:
When an ozone-depleting substance (ODS) is being released into the atmosphere, it converts ozone into oxygen known as ozone depletion.
Because of the destruction of the ozone in the ozonosphere, its concentration has fallen down.
This is also called the ozone hole because the high radiation ultraviolet (UV) rays will be in a position to pass through the ozone layer and will have direct access to our planet.
Strong ultraviolet rays may lead to minimal growth, flowering, and photosynthesis in plants. The forests also have to bear the harmful effects of the ultraviolet rays.
Planktons are greatly affected by exposure to harmful ultraviolet rays. These are higher in the aquatic food chain. If the planktons are destroyed, the organisms present in the food chain are also affected.
