Why is the euglena said to belong to both the animal as well as the plant kingdom?
Euglena is a unicellular protozoan. It possesses characteristics of both animals and plants. The animal−like characteristics include the ingestion of other small protozoans and presence of flagella for movement. The plant−like characteristics include the presence of chlorophyll that helps it to perform photosynthesis during scarcity of food. Hence, it is said to belong to both animal and plant kingdom.
