Soil:

  1. Soil is a mixture of organic matter, minerals, gas, liquids, and organisms that together support life.
  2. It is also referred to as dirt or earth.

Preparation of soil:

  1. The main purpose of the bare area is to have the soil in suitable physical conditions for cultivating crops.
  2. Further procedures like ploughing and tiling of land are done to determine the quality of the soil.

Sowing:

  1. It is the process of planting the plants.
  2. In sowing, a small amount of soil is placed over seeds by maintaining the planting depth of about 2-3 times the size of the seed.

Weeding:

  1. It can be defined as the systematic removal of weeds from the field.
  2. It is basically a pre-harvesting method of crop protection and prevention from getting damaged.
  3. In this process, the unwanted leaves, plants, etc., are removed.

Threshing:

  1. It is the process of loosening the edible part of grain from the stalk/straw which is attached to it.
  2. It is a post-harvesting method.
  3. It is basically to separate the grain or seeds by some mechanical means.
