• The preparation of soil is the first step before growing a crop.
• This involves loosening and tilling of soil which facilitates the roots to penetrate deep into the soil and enhances plant growth.
• Plough and hoe are the traditional tools whereas cultivator is the modern tool used for ploughing.
• After ploughing the soil is levelled using a leveller which breaks the bigger soil crumbs.
• Once the soil is prepared seeds are sown in it.
