Composite fish culture:

1. In this type of fish culture, the fishes of different species mainly having different kinds of feeding habitats are cultured in the same period.
2. In the same fish bond, the fish of five to six different species are cultured and grown together.
3. Species having different kinds of food habitats are selected to stop competing with each other for food.

Advantage:

1. This type of fish culture helps in increasing productivity.
2. Rearing of combinations of different species of fish in the same pond like- Rohu, Grass carps, Catla, etc.

Disadvantage:

1. For culture, the lack of pure fish seeds is a major disadvantage.
2. The different parts of the pond are used by the fishes for their feed. So they do not fight for food.
3. Generally, the breeding of fish occurs in the monsoon. Therefore it's very difficult to segregate the seeds of different species.
