Solution

Calculate the area of rectangle:

Area of rectangular floor=6.4m×5m=32m2

1cm=0.01m

Area of square tile=16cm×16cm=16×0.01m×16×0.01m

=0.0256m2

Number of square tiles required=AreaoffloorAreaoftile

=320.0256=32256×10-4=1250

Hence, 1250 square tiles are required to pave the floor.
