A given amount of gas A is confined in a chamber is immersed in a bath of melting ice, the pressure of the gas is 100 cm Hg.

1. What is the temperature, when the pressure is 10 cm Hg?
2. What will be the pressure, when the chamber is brought to 100C?

At constant volume,

1. P1T1=P2T2

Here, P1=100 cm,T1=0oC=273K,P2=10 cm

Then, T2=10×273100=27.3K


2. P1T1=P2T2

Here, P1=100 cm, T1=0oC=273K, T2=100oC=373K

Then P2=100×373273=136.63 cm Hg
