Question

A rectangular hall has a length of 40m and width of 14m. If the hall is to be tiled using 70cm×40cm tiles then,

What will be the total cost at the rate of 40Pertile?

Solution

The length of the rectangle =40m

The breadth of the rectangle =14m

Area of Rectangle =l×b

=40×14=560

So, the area of the rectangle is 560m2=560×10000=5600000cm2

Then we need to find the area of tiles

Area of tiles =length×breadth

=70×40=2800

So, the Area of tiles is 2800cm2

Than the number of tiles =AreaofRectangleAreaoftiles

=56000002800=2000

Total Cost =Numberoftiles×rateofpertiles

=2000×40=80000

Hence, the total cost is 80000
