A wooden block of mass 40kg and dimension 30 cm x 20cm x 10 cm is kept on the table top.Calculate :
(i) the pressure exerted by the wooden block on the table top if it is made to lie on its plane of dimension 30 cm x 10 cm
(ii) ratio of maximum pressure to the minimum pressure exerted by the wooden block on the table top? [Take g = 10 m/s2]

The pressure on the area 30 cm×10 cm is ,P=40×10300×10-4=13333.33 PaNow maximum pressure is,Pmax=40×1030×20×10-4=6666.67 PaThe minimum pressure is,Pmin=40×1010×20×10-4=20000 PaSo the ratio of the maximum to the minimum pressure is ,PmaxPmin=0.33
