A is ethene having molecular formula (C₂H₄) . A will undergo reduction and form B (ethane) . .i.e C₂H₆. This reaction is known hydrogenation reaction. The reaction will be :
CH₂=CH₂ + H₂ $\overset{H_{2}, N i}{\to}$ CH₃-CH₃
A is CH₂=CH₂ and B is CH₃-CH₃.
B reacts with chlorine in presence of sunlight gives C . C is 1,2-chloroethane. This reaction is known as substitution reaction.
