It is synthesized by the hypothalamic neurons and temporarily stored and released by the posterior pituitary.
It acts on the nephron's of Distal Convoluted Tubule (DCT) and Collecting duct and increases the reabsorption of water.
It prevents diuresis (production of large volume of dilute urine).
