Solution

Hydrochloric acid is used in the preparation chlorine:
1.Chlorine is a greenish-yellow gas. The halogen group colour darkens as we move down the group.
2. When concentrated Hydrochloric acid reacts with an oxidising agent when heated, it produces greenish-yellow colour.
3 The coloured gas is Chlorine. The oxidizing agent can be Manganese dioxide etc.
The following reaction takes place-
MnO2+4HClMnCl2+2H2O+Cl2
4.The property that can be seen is that Hydrochloric acid acts as reducing agent while Manganese oxide is an oxidising agent.
So, Hydrochloric acid reacts with Manganese oxide to form Chlorine, Manganese chloride and water. The property of Hydrochloric acid make it suitable for Chlorine preparation.
