Solution

The correct option is D Mucus
Early Greeks and Indian Ayurvedic system believed in the good humor hypothesis. As per this theory there is a connection between good health and balance of four humors in our body. The four humors are black bile, blood, yellow bile and phlegm. Every person is dominant in one of the four humors as per the theory.

Blood : It is believed that blood is produced only by the liver and people with more of this humor are energetic and enthusiastic.

Yellow bile : It is secreted by the liver and gallbladder. People with more of this humor are ambitious and short tempered.

Black bile : A liquid believed to be secreted by kidneys and spleen. People with more of humor are more depressed.

Phlegm : A thick substance secreted by the mucus membranes. People with more of this humor are easy going and relaxed types.
Mucus is a thick secretion from the linings of our body like gastrointestinal tract, respiratory tract etc. It helps in protection and trapping microorganisms. In the good humor hypothesis they use the word phlegm not mucus for the humor produced by the linings of our body.
