Nisha buys a box costing ₹ 981. The rate of the sales tax is 9 %. She tells the shopkeepers to allow a discount on the price of the box to such an extent that she pays
₹ 981 inclusive all the tax. Find the discount in the price of the box.
Rs. 81
Let the reduced price of the box after the discount be ₹ x. Then,
Sales tax = (9% of ₹.x) = ₹. (9x100)
S.P = ₹(x+(9x100)) = ₹ (109x100)
It is given that the selling price should be ₹ 981.
Therefore, (109x100) = 981
⇒ x = 900
Thus, reduced price of the box after discount = ₹ 900
Hence, the discount in the price of the box = (₹ 981 - 900) = ₹ 81.
