Solution

The correct option is B

Rs. 176

Let the reduced price of the box after the discount be Rs. X. Then,

Sales tax = (8% of Rs.x) = Rs. (8x100)

S.P = (x+(8x100))=Rs.(108x100) It is given that the selling price should be Rs. 981.

Therefore, (108x100) = 2376

x = 2200

Thus, reduced price of the box after discount = Rs. 2200

Hence, reduction needed in the price of the box = (Rs. 2376 - 2200) = Rs. 176.
