Solution

External length of wooden box = 27 cm
External width of closed wooden box = 19 cm
External height of closed wooden box = 11 cm
So, external volume of wooden box = 27×19×11 = 5643 cm3
Now, thickness of wooden box = 1.5 cm
So, internal length of wooden box = 27 - 1.5 = 25.5 cm
Internal width of closed wooden box = 19 - 1.5 = 17.5 cm
Internal height of closed wooden box = 11 - 1.5 = 9.5 cm
So, internal volume of box = 25.5×17.5×9.5 = 4239.375 cm3
1) So, volume of wood in the box = external volume of wooden box - internal volume of box = 5643-4239.375 = 1403.625 cm3
2) total cost of box = 1403.625×1.20 = Rs.1684.35
