Ritu is 5 years younger than her brother Rohit. Their father is 25 years older than Ritu. Four years ago, the fathers age was twice the sum of their ages then. Find present age of each.

Let , Present age of Ritu = x

Given : Ritu is 5 years younger than her brother Rohit , So

Present age of Rohit = x + 5

Also given : Their father is 25 years older than Ritu , So

Present age of their father = x + 25

And

Four years ago, the fathers age was twice the sum of their ages then , So

( x + 25 - 4 ) = 2 [ ( x - 4 ) + ( x + 5 - 4 ) ]

x + 21 = 2 [ x - 4 + x + 1 ]

x + 21 = 2 ( 2x - 3 )

x + 21 = 4 x - 6

3 x = 27

x = 9

So,

Present age of Ritu = 9 years ,

Present age of Rohit = 9 + 5 = 14 years

And

Present age of their father = 9 + 25 = 34 years ( Ans )
