Blood is the fluid connective tissue that carries different substances throughout the body. The two components of blood are plasma and blood corpuscles.
Plasma is the fluid component of the blood and the blood corpuscles make up the cellular component of blood.
Blood corpuscles:
The three types of blood corpuscles are red blood cells (RBCs), white blood cells (WBCs), and platelets.
The red blood cells contain hemoglobin that binds oxygen and help transport.
The white blood cells are amoeboid and help in protecting the body from pathogens.
Platelets are fragments of special cell and help in the clotting of blood.
Mature mammalian red blood cells and platelets lack a nucleus whereas white blood cells contain a nucleus.
