Question

How do you solve electric field problems?

Open in App
Solution

Things that we absolutely need in order to solve the problems,

  1. Apply the Electric field formula given below:
    E=k|q|d2
  2. Draw the electric field vector.
  3. Use k=9×109Nm2C2
  4. Convert d to the meter before doing the calculation,
  5. The electric field unit is NC.

The electric field is the electric force per unit charge. The direction of an electric field is obtained from the direction in which the force exerts on a positive test charge. The electric field is radially outward from a positive charge and radially in toward a negative point charge.

E=Fq

The above relation is used to determine the electric field.
