Question

Which is the strongest chemical bond?

Open in App
Solution

Chemical bond:

  • A chemical bond is formed by attractive forces between two ions or two atoms which results in the formation of chemical compounds.
  • This binding of electrons can be done in two ways i.e. by the complete transfer of electrons or by sharing of electrons.

Ionic Bond:

  • An ionic bond is formed by the transfer of electrons from one atom to another so that the atoms can acquire their noble gas configuration. This bond usually exists between a metal and a nonmetal.

Covalent Bond:

  • A covalent bond is formed by the mutual sharing of electrons between the atoms of the same or different elements so as to complete their octet or duplet.

In chemistry, a covalent bond is the strongest bond, In such bonding, each of two atoms shares electrons that bind them together. For example - water molecules are bonded together where both hydrogen atoms and oxygen atoms share electrons to form a covalent bond.
